TransAsia grounds pilots who failed proficiency test in wake of plane crash

In the wake of a deadly plane crash in Taipei, Taiwan, earlier this month, the local Civil Aeronautics Administration ordered the airline's pilots to undergo retraining and tests.

Of TransAsia's 68 pilots, 10 failed the first part of the qualification test, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Lin Tyh-ming, head of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, reportedly said the 10 pilots, as well as 19 others who have not yet taken the oral proficiency test, will be grounded until they pass

TransAsia's other pilots, who passed the test, are allowed to fly, but will have to participate in future simulation training. Read more...
